Awadhesh Kumar, CEO

Awadhesh, MSQE from ISI, Delhi, is an expert in application of mathematical and statistical techniques to business problems. He has worked extensively in energy derivatives market, risk domain across various industry verticals and brings with him a wealth of expertise on approaching practical solutions.

Before founding BrainMatics, Awadhesh worked with Credit Suisse First Boston, Vedaris, Fractal Analytics and General Electric. He has also worked with Global Research Centre of GE as a scientist with their Information Decision technology lab. As a Head of Analytics at Fractal, he played a key role in expanding the business into new domains and geographies including US, Europe and South East Asia. At Vedaris, he managed key projects in the energy domain for clients in the Nordic region.

Patents & Publications
Awadhesh holds patents in Optimal pricing, Customer Life Time value, SME credit rating etc. Besides, his work on Japan personal bankruptcy forecasting was accepted in "International forecasting symposium Sydney 2004".

He has also been instrumental in designing Swing Option Evaluation Model for Energy Trading markets and models in the area of Price and Demand Forecasting for Nordic markets.

Dr. Krishnan, Head – Research & Development

Dr. Krishnan and his team of scientists are primarily responsible for developing solution frameworks and techniques for new and existing challenges in the capital markets domain. He is an expert in developing and leveraging quantitative tools and techniques and has designed multifactor asset pricing models, portfolio optimization models, tactical asset allocation, style management techniques etc.

He has over 25 years of experience in the area of quantitative finance. After a brief teaching stint at the University of Toronto he moved to mainstream investment management. On the buy side of the securities industry, he worked with both large pension funds such as the Ontario Teachers' Pension Plan, and asset managers such as Yield Management Group and Barclays Global Investors in the fixed income and equity areas. On the sell side, he has worked with Merrill Lynch, Toronto on the bond desk.

Before joining BrainMatics, he spent 8 years as a partner, director and shareholder with Structured Capital Inc., a firm that manages money primarily in the pension fund area. He is registered as a Portfolio Manager with the Ontario Securities Commission.

Dr. Krishnan has an undergraduate degree from IIT Madras, a PGDM from IIM Calcutta and a Ph.D. in Finance from the Kellogg School, Northwestern University, Evanston, Illinois.

Rishikesh Sapre, Director – Strategic Alliances

Rishikesh heads the business development and strategic alliances group at Brainmatics. At Brainmatics, his team has been responsible for creating strategic alliance with companies such as SAS, Wipro and other large systems integrators, currently in India, APAC and Middle East.

Prior to Brainmatics he has worked with Fractal Analytics, Rinedata-GEAC as the Head of Sales and Marketing where he was responsible for managing India and Middle East. His contribution at Fractal enabled the organization to double its revenues from India in the first year and quadruple the revenues the second year. At Rinedata-GEAC he was responsible for generating revenues of 3.6 million USD in the year of inception with a market share of 85% using a partner channel with Microsoft.

Rishikesh is an MBA from ENPC, Paris and a Computer Science Engineer from Mumbai University.

Sharad Singh, Head – Products & BI

Sharad heads the Products & Business Intelligence group at BrainMatics. He works closely with the R&D team in conceptualizing and development of products and solutions for portfolio construction, risk management, derivatives pricing and performance analysis. He has been the key person in developing the IP for BrainMatics' state-of-the-art performance attribution system.

Before founding Brainmatics he worked with Fractal Analytics as an expert in Business Intelligence in the Financial Risk Services domain. He solely handled a key business intelligence consultancy project for one of the largest bank in South Korea and also initiated a Risk and Marketing consultancy project with the largest credit card service provider globally. In his prior stint with Infosys, Sharad has handled some critical projects and key initiatives successfully in Insurance and Telecom domains.

Sharad is an engineering graduate and holds a PGDM from IIM, Ahmedabad.
